Just so everyone knows, we made it to Georgia safe.
But boy, what a trip!!
We left my parents house by 8:45am – filled up with gas, so got on the high way right before 9am. Ahead of schedule…
We however did not make it to Georgia until 3:30pm!
It was such a long trip… but I am so thankful we are finally here.
There is really to much to share… but I am just grateful for those who helped us unload our crazy amount of boxes and furniture. We are also so glad this house is fully furnished! So we had no furniture to really set up tonight except for Owens crib. The rest of our furniture and things are in the basement of this house – which is amazing because it will allow us easy access – and the ability to weed through items we need to get rid of. I really want to de-clutter A TON while here, so that when we do move into a more permanent home, that we will have a less busy home… less is more, really.
But for now, we’re going to live in the now – and enjoy this time. This will become our new home, even if its not permanent.
We were welcomed here today with such love.
It will take some time for our kids to understand things… Caleb I think GETS it – but Taite and Owen not so much. Taite asked me after the people left and we began to set up the kitchen -he said “So, can we stay here 16 days, then go back?” – by back, he means home… made my heart ache. He doesn’t get it, but Im sure in time he will grow to love it here. Its just that “back” – is all Taite knows… So I can only imagine this time being very unsure for him…. :(
Kids are tucked in their new beds… and Owen is fast asleep. Praying he sleeps well and we can all get a great night sleep.
Maybe tomorrow ill have time to break out the camera ;-) – the photo of Caleb at the wheel was taken with my moms iphone before we left this morning.
Now its off to kick our feet up and relax… as I am sure tomorrow will be busy unpacking boxes, setting up my desk work station, the school room and more.
Oh, and we have to purchase 2 baby gates – because this house has stairs! :) – Owen is already making me nervous.
Thank’s for the prayers!

Our prayers for all of you will continue. I hope Taite (and all the boys) will adjust to the new “home”…I get what he means… :(
I check every day for your updates. I’m glad you made it safely there! I can’t wait to hear more. Hang in there friend…
In Peace,
Sherry

You know, I was thinking…. and I remember the move my family made when I was 5. We moved from the only home I knew to the place my parents still live in today. I have only pleasant, happy memories of my first home. For a few years, every time I spoke about that town, I’d use the prefix “my” before the name of the town. But I think that’s the best part of being a kid. Be glad they’ll only have fond memories of their old friends and their happy times.

So glad you made it safely! I’m sure it will take some adjusting, but kids are resilient! It will probably be a harder time for you. I moved 8 times by the time I was 16. I think being together as a family is the most important aspect for kids and is where they really need the stability. Plus having their own belongings and toys help! Just try and make the exploring the new town and meeting new people aspects fun for the boys! Praying for you all!
