One thing I am realizing is the MUST of older siblings helping their mom out :) – I would of never imagined 7 1/2 years ago, that my 1st born would be such a great helper. I mean I knew he’d help but little did I realize how much I would really need it.
Last night was a hard one. I was exhausted and Owen was giving me a major head ache going to bed. It took 2 hours to get him to settle, which is crazy… but I think the routine change of his Daddy being gone (on a 2nd shift) and possibly his being ready for a big boy bed… was just resulting in some major tears with little Owen. That & I think he is getting 2 year molars. :-\
I tried every trick in the book but it wasnt until 10pm that he settled…
So today come nap time, I was ready for some rest…
Sadly Owen was not. He got up an hour early from his nap and after I laid down for just 25 minutes or so, he was crying. I called Caleb up to my room and asked him if he could take Owen down stairs and give him some milk and a little snack (he knows what Owen can and cant have) – and turn on a movie for him. AN ENTIRE HOUR LATER, I wake up to peace and quiet… and my sweet Caleb is downstairs keeping watch over Owen.
He is such a big help.
I NEED IT.
Especially on days when I feel so physically drained… I really believe he will be a major factor in keeping me sane once baby #4 comes ;-) – the help he will offer, will be so needed.

So… heres to moms getting the rest they need.
Children serving and being taught TO serve (it is something Ive had to teach).
… and hopefully a better night time routine tonight :)

It’s sweet to have a older one that enjoys helping!! I am thankful to my helpers;) And I have to remind myself to praise them over and over for the help they do give!

What a sweet sweet son! That’s so helpful! Glad you got a nap in! Still read your blog daily, just don’t comment often. Congrats on baby #4 and on your new adventures with Travis’ new job. Glad everything fell into place for you :-)

What a great big brother! And I agree, Max helps me so much. Especially when it comes to me having to do some farming, Silas is easily bored in the fields and wanders off. Max gets an allowance for helping to keep an eye on Silas :)

Laura at only 2 is the lil mama of the house. I say all the time she is an old soul returned to the earth. She is always making sure Harley (who’s 8, autistic and nonverbal) has a snack, drink, toys, her shoes, etc. She’s mothering Max (whos 4m) too, but not as much as she does Harley
