Alright, so many of you who follow me via facebook, have already heard this briefly…
I got several emails Saturday morning from people telling me there was a lady pretending to be me on facebook. Not only was she using my photo as her profile picture but she also had pictures of my children – and was pretending they were her kids! She listed herself under the name Jade Myers – her kids had different names than mine, but they were clearly my photographs.
So if that isnt creepy enough…
I got an email tonight from a lady who apparently has known “Jade Myers” for 8 years now – she originally met her on a MSN moms group, that eventually became a facebook group. Ever since the yahoo group, this Jade lady has used my photos. She actually had photos on her page of me pregnant with Caleb!! She has photos from our baby showers…. etc..etc..etc….
For the last 8 years…
She has pretended to be me.
With an alias name.
I just got to say, stuff like this, makes me want to pull everything I have from the internet. Will it ever be gone? maybe not… but at least people like this cant follow what I am doing. You know? I have flashes from episodes of criminal minds…. and the thought of it creeps me out.
This Jade Myers just announced not to long ago she was pregnant – and of course, whos “PREGNANT” photo is on her facebook page now. Mine. She also has post on this “moms group” (im trying to get the info on that too) – showing the very same photos of my boys opening the BOX full of blue balloons….
My blog has been a great outlet for me…. I have been able to network with some amazing women….
But is it worth the safety of our family?
I’m not so sure any more.
Especially with my husbands new line of work.
Grant it we will have lots of protection in our home now – you just never know how “closely” these people are following you… I do find peace in knowing I serve a God who is sovereign… and that calms my anxiety. However… He does teach us to be wise… So I got some praying to do about this situation…
From what I hear btw, this woman got most of my information from my blog and the photos off flickr – which I use to upload all my images…
::sigh::
Can I just say, it does creep me out.
So to Jade if you read this blog (obviously you do)… please stop living a lie… Pretending to be someone else is not a game.
To those who have facebook, please report/block this Jade lady – if I can get 100′s to do it, maybe facebook will start working harder at their privacy settings and stopping this from happening so often. This is the 2nd time this has happen to me… once someone stole my business identity and was using my photography brand to sell themselves on facebook – and now this. Come on…. really?!
It looks like her page finally disappeared from Facebook. So sorry this is happening to you :(

Ok this is making me question my fb account even more too! So scary. I recently discovered that this sick lady who tormented my parents many many years ago with her evil and lies was stealing my profile pic from fb for years now! I have everything blocked and private but the profile pics people can still see when they search for you. Well she had an album of me, my husband and worst of all my child…the album talked about how we were her family. I was pure shaking when I saw it. This is why I never change my profile pic and have been seriously contemplating deleting it all…but then I hate the thought of losing touch with real friends and family that no longer live nearby. The scary thing is the lady who did this to me still lives in this area and there is so much history there that I fear her and what she could do! I hope and pray this crazy Jade person is not close to your family!!

Wow, crazy! This is no joke at all… Looks like her page has been deleted, but I wonder if you can go to police or the news about it? How scary, Drea… I hope she stops!
Have you ever thought of making your blog private and opened only to subscribers?

@TanyaB, Hey Tanya, I have. But with it being a paid blog at times with sponsored post and ads, I cant have it private. If I decide to do away with those tho, I can go that route… I def may consider it now…

Oh My Word, this is ridiculous. Were they watermarked photos? Sucks to have to put a big watermark over every photo but I guess you are going to have to now…. even ones on facebook. People can be so terrible and you know it is just the devil trying to attack you.

Wow, Andrea! That is so scary! I love the real friendships and connections that happen over a blog, but this is beyond creepy. Praying for you and I hope you don’t stop blogging :) I love how I can keep in touch with you across the miles!

Please never stop writing Drea! I feel bad for “Jade Myers” who sees no value in herself and needs to steal someone’s identity to find self worth. How sad is it that she sunk SO low. But don’t let her shut you down! It just shows how cool you are and what an awesome family you have. I know this is an extreme – but thank goodness she got caught!

@Kevin Main, you are telling me! it is creepy. Its one thing to steal someones image and pretend its you for a few months or something, but this woman made up fake stories on the kids! pretending they were hers…. that is what is more screwed up than anything.
