About 5 years ago we went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord NC. At the time I only had 3 boys. Owen was around age 1 I believe… Our boys had a blast then… even though they were much smaller. So I knew I wanted to eventually do it again. Here is a blog post written in 2010 from that visit. I was slack this time and didn’t bring my professional camera to take pictures… but I did take some video :) – below is a montage full of videos from going down the slides. The sound was messed up in the video due to the camera being old… but I think its still fun to watch. Our boys had a BLAST!!! I would defeintly recommend this place to families. The only thing is, I suggest you go once your kids are at least 42 inches. If they aren’t, they’ll lack activities. 3 out of our 4 could ride a good number of rides. Owen wasn’t quiet tall enough for the “howling tornado” – intense ride!! but besides that one, Owen could ride all of them. (He is 5). Caleb and Taite were able to ride every ride there. Reed was to short to ride any of the big slides but he was content with the number of activities in the kiddy portion of the park. My parents came along for the fun too, which helped free us up a bit. They would watch Reed, while we went on a few rides. Then we’d switch it up. The park also offers HOME SCHOOLERS a 15% discount. So be sure to ask for this. Its not always valid (only certain times of the year) but if and when its valid, that 15% helps cut cost a good bit.
Enjoy the video and below that are a few “cell phone” photos :)
Little wolves wrestling :)
To end… a flash back. Near this park there is a place called the Bass Pro Shop. In 2007 we lived with my parents for a few months… and one evening I took Caleb and Taite to this shop. They have a huge bass fish tank… and Caleb age 2 had sat in front of it. I snagged his photo then and it was always a favorite of mine. I loved his little legs and how in awe he was at these big fish.
When we went back to this shop (its connected to a large mall), I told Caleb to hop on up there and let me snag his photo.
In those moments of time passing so fast… and the reminder of how short life is. It makes me so thankful for eternity. We were not made for this life only… life beyond our years here is where we were meant. I love the memories we have here and the blessings God has given us… but I find such peace in the hope of eternity. I just pray daily for my boys to find salvation and love the Lord. To give them Kingdom eyes, not worldly.
