I haven’t posted a “photo” heavy post in some time… I have neglected taking photos of every day life (something that was common on this blog not to long ago). We recently took a trip to the Isle of Palm near Charleston SC. A pretty spontaneous trip… but one we felt was needed. Our 3rd born Owen turns 6 this weekend and he was begging to go… so since the weather looked favorable, we went ahead and jumped on the nice temps and made our way to the coast.
We managed to book a room at the Homewood Suites in Mount Pleasant… and let me tell you, I was impressed. If you plan to travel to Isle of Palm, keep them in mind. The cost was $145.00 (pre-tax) for all of us and included two queens, two rooms, a full kitchen, pull out bed and two TVS. It was perfect for our size family. It also included a breakfast buffet as well as dinner! For our family to eat those two meals out alone at most restaurants would cost between $55-70. We packed our lunch for the one lunch we’d be out, making our cost even less that day. My parents stayed at this same hotel too a week prior and their cost was even less. Its one of those things that if you plan to go, ask about their prices and what days would be best seasonally. This same room would probably be double on a high traffic season or weekend. I guess this is a perk to home schooling, our schedule is pretty flexible.
Any how, to the photos :)
I took my old Canon 5D and an older lens I rarely use on this trip. I do not like to take my professional gear to the coast… to much sand. So, my older camera had to do and even tho its old, it does a great job!
Thankful for the memories and means to go. We had a great time.
The boys called this place their hide out. They LOVED it.
Here is a glimpse inside the hotel room….
This was out in the lobby at dinner….
That evening we went back to the beach. Was a little chilly, but so beautiful.
I truly don’t know how anyone could look at the ocean and not believe in an almighty God.
His creation is amazing!
& to end… a cell phone capture that I posted on my instagram.
Travis sat the boys down and asked them what the ocean made them think of. Gods glory right in front of our faces. Those moments to sit and talk about His creation are small… but they are impactful. Tonight I went shopping for Owens 6th birthday gifts with my oldest son Caleb who is 11. He wanted me to stop by Lifeway a Christian book store in town, so he could buy a cross necklace. He said he wanted to wear it to symbolize he knows Christ personally. Did this mamas heart proud. I pray he continues and desires holiness… over flesh. I pray my sons grow up to be imitators of Christ, and not of this world. That they are evidence of grace, forgiveness and a striving for eternity and what is to come. The memories above are just flickers of our time here… memories I cherish and my boys will cherish… but more importantly I want them to remember Christ and the beauty of His creation and how amazing it is He desires to know each of us.
