Work and School

Between church meetings, impromptu birth sessions, new work for Boba, family portrait sessions on the weekend and a newborn session next week. The next week 1/2 or so will be packed full and busy. My parents will also be coming next weekend. So in between the working I hope to find time to deep clean the house before they come.

We’ve also been schooling or should I say, Travis has been schooling :) – and as the school year draws to an end soon, we are in search of new curriculum for next year. In fact we may end up schooling through the summer!

So I’m curious home school families.

What Curriculum are you using next year? and why?

I am the type of mom who likes things “organized” for me… I am not gifted in the area of organizing a school day, as far as doing lesson plans and figuring out on my own what they need to learn. I need that done for me. Which is why we picked Abeka from the start, because it does that. It has things from beginning to end completely planned out. However we have had a few bumps with Abeka and we’re interested in doing something more hands on and not so “seat workish” all the time.

Would love to hear what others are using and what made them decide on that. Pros and Cons, etc. Feel free to leave lengthy comments. I am sure other moms would love to read it too!

Off to shower and prepare for the day. Im excited about this afternoons portrait session. Im dragging a family through the woods to a creek :) – among bikers hehe. I am hoping the hike back is uneventful. Im sure it will be worth the walking.

Peanut Butter – I can put up with you for…

So! A little fact some may not know about me.

I hate peanut butter.

The smell…
The feel…
Even the look.

It is just not for me.
Which is funny because I love peanuts :) – but something seriously changes when they cream it up. It isn’t the same IMO. My husband is actually one of the biggest peanut butter fans out there though. In fact I think recently he posted that it was “National Peanut Day” on his facebook. He really loves it. Jif EXTRA Crunchy is his favorite.

I however, stay clear and even find that if he is eating it, I have to take a few steps back.

I saw a craft on Pinterest the other day though, that looked so fun.
It did however involved the use of peanut butter… I can put up with it, for the kids :) – as long as it doesn’t involve my eating it. :-D

So I purchased the cheapest jar of peanut butter I could find. Grabbed some toilet paper/paper towel rolls that I had saved up – and yesterday we went out and had some fun.

Our neighbors kids even joined in :-) – as did my Peanut Butter loving husband, who I can just say loves being home for times like this. Craft time like this is something he rarely did before… since he was working. Which is a given, most husbands do not get to experience these times with their children. So you better believe I am soaking up the memories of it… because it is sweet to see. I love that he is involved with them as much as possible. I know the day is coming he will go back to work… so it definitely is something to be cherished.

Side note, he probably wont appreciate the fact I put photos of him in running clothes and a paint stained hat on my blog :) – after craft time he did go on like a 5 miles run. Which is pretty routine these days ;-) – He has lost 20lbs recently! I thought the photos were to sweet not to post though, so… sorry Travis :) – they were blog worthy, hehe. Gym Clothes & All.

Here are a few pictures from our time.

Taite’s choice of wardrobe is funny. We asked him multiple times if he was hot.
He would say no. Which is beyond me, because I was in a tank top and hot.

Note: If you do this craft, make sure you plan it for a week that doesnt have rain in the forecast ;-) – you can easily take them off the tree if rain is due to come in.. and put them back up once it passes.

Also I highly recommend as you can see from our photos, doing this craft outside ;-)

Easter Without

IMG_2104Tomorrow is Easter.

The 1st Easter we have had, since moving from NC…

It will be the 1st Easter in 4 years that we will not see family.

It will be the 1st Easter we will not host an egg hunt in our backyard with the entire church. I still remember how funny we found it, months after Easter & our boys were still finding eggs :)

This Easter will be different.

It will be an Easter without what was familiar.

An Easter without cute new clothes for the boys, since we really just can’t afford them right now. & you know… I am totally content with that.

It will be an Easter in a new home.

A new State.

A new Church.

With new friends.

Without Family.

One thing that remains the same though, is us being together.

Healthy.

Strong.

Happy.

Blessed beyond belief to be where we are.

Despite what we do miss.

Thankful for the beautiful weather.

The friendships that welcome us into their home for Easter Dinner.

The times spent with the kids, enjoying egg hunts in a new way. Completely different :) – yet so fun.

An Easter knowing the Lord has such a perfect plan for us.

We love and miss all our friends and family in NC.

Sending our love and many smiles, hugs and kisses your way.

Look

I just found this picture cute :)

That is an old piece to part of a playground the boys found. I’m not sure either one could see a thing through it… but it was just funny how they interacted with this big piece of plastic.

Those were

Just in case you missed it… the photo earlier today was in fact MY BED SHEETS!

They are Egyptian cotton… awesome amazing and the best… I love them. Sadly my feet are like crazy razor blades or something – because those holes are on MY side. We laugh about it.. but they are getting really big and sometimes at night my feet go into the holes. GROSS.

So I am in the market for new sheets ;-)

In other news…

The boys have been sleeping on the floor.

They make no sense… but hey, no reason to make beds in this case :)

Owen went in after his nap and said “night night?!” – then proceeded to check things out

They disregarded him ;-)

Do you have any favorite sheets?
