Easter Without

IMG_2104Tomorrow is Easter.

The 1st Easter we have had, since moving from NC…

It will be the 1st Easter in 4 years that we will not see family.

It will be the 1st Easter we will not host an egg hunt in our backyard with the entire church. I still remember how funny we found it, months after Easter & our boys were still finding eggs :)

This Easter will be different.

It will be an Easter without what was familiar.

An Easter without cute new clothes for the boys, since we really just can’t afford them right now. & you know… I am totally content with that.

It will be an Easter in a new home.

A new State.

A new Church.

With new friends.

Without Family.

One thing that remains the same though, is us being together.

Healthy.

Strong.

Happy.

Blessed beyond belief to be where we are.

Despite what we do miss.

Thankful for the beautiful weather.

The friendships that welcome us into their home for Easter Dinner.

The times spent with the kids, enjoying egg hunts in a new way. Completely different :) – yet so fun.

An Easter knowing the Lord has such a perfect plan for us.

We love and miss all our friends and family in NC.

Sending our love and many smiles, hugs and kisses your way.

It is better

This week during our morning devotional with the kids… Travis read a part in John 16 that said:

“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Holy Spirit will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.”

I don’t think I had ever heard that piece of scripture. Or I guess I should say I am sure Ive heard it, but I never heard it emphasized like Travis did that morning.

drea16When I was 15 years old – and really before then… I felt a tugging at my heart. I had stepped away from church for years prior to coming to my friend’s youth group… and one day I just went.

I knew I wasn’t right where I was… running from God. Using excuses of not wanting to “Dress up” in my parents church, or really just rebelling and not wanting to “listen to my parents...” after all “I knew better & I could make my own decisions.Satan is great at deceiving us… and using lies to keep us from Christ.

I am so thankful God brought me to that youth group… and helped me realize just how desperately I did need Him.

It has been almost 15 years since that photo was taken. I was 16 in it.

Time has flown by…

I am so thankful God sent his Son for me.

… and through the Holy Spirit He began to tug at my heart and spoke truth.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter Weekend.

I will end with a piece of scripture I saw on my friend Tara’s Blog. I loved it.

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!”
(Luke 24: 1-6)

Neighborness

I must say… the Lord sure has blessed us with an awesome next door neighbor. She lives 20 feet from our house – close enough that our kids could actually run over if ever in danger. Its very reassuring honestly :)

Her names Jessie and I know shes reading this so I can make it evident she made my blog today haha… she was feeding Owen last night some Risotto. He often mooches off of Jessie’s food.

It was so cute to watch though :) – so I snagged a picture.

and then… just because its funny :) – She puts this cone thing on her head.

IMG_1903

We are such special people.

IMG_1904

The on looking kids then of course begin to mimic Jessie, because, well she Jessie :)

IMG_1906

Oh yes, she has to teach Owen proper form.

After a moment or so Owen realized his head was stuck :) – and his expression says it all.

Its just really neat how God provides just who you need where you are. Its nice to know there is someone there we know we can rely on. Jessie btw was the neighbor who was watching our boys last week – when Owen began to throw up countless times in her home… she handled it with way more grace than I could have :) – I just do not handle the throw up stuff well, at all! I would of been a total wreck had the tables been turned. She is just very gracious and giving.

So to Jessie :) you are an awesome friend and neighbor – our time here would not be the same without your family.

Special and all :-D

Busy and Resting

Between the resting up – getting over the colds we’ve all had :( – minus Travis. He remained well to take care of ALL of us.

Once the fevers broke I had a maternity session to shoot – had dinner with our neighbors – always a treat – and then today a family session. We also hung out with the family I photographed, riding bikes, eating amazing chicken Alfredo, and go-cart riding.

Its felt really busy!

Besides the sickness though a good and beautiful weekend.

I got a lot to catch up on with blog work, reviews and processing sessions from last week and this week… I hope to catch up tomorrow. Then the rest of the week will be reserved for a friends daughters 1 year old portraits, schooling, church and then on Saturday… Owen’s 2nd Birthday Party! Hard to believe that is already upon us…

March is flying by…

Another place we enjoy

In our neighborhood… we have a rather large open field we recently discovered. Allowing a place for the kids to just run free. No hills… just open space.

We have enjoyed it :) – maybe more than the kids haha…

It has such a peaceful feel to it. Don’t you think?
