2 a Friend

FxCam_1282666511477This morning I got a call from my friend Kelly. She was headed to our town for a library run & thought about doing lunch together. It then slipped out that it was her birthday! AHHH im so bad about keeping up with peoples birthdays… seriously, Its something I need to work on :) I need email reminders for sure, because I just forget.

I’ll make it up to Kelly :-)

& for now ill just praise her friendship! Cause she seriously has been my best friend since moving here. Its hard to find friends you can feel 100% comfortable with. I would of never dreamed id have a friend with me while in labor… pushing a baby out of my wah-poozie lol, but I trusted her and knew if there was anyone I could trust with that time, it be her.

Shes a huge encouragement, very wise (Im forever calling her saying “hey… I got a question.” – she can vouch for that im sure! – I think I called her 3 times the past 2 days with questions about something!). Her kids are always sweet (even when they are bad lol – really, that takes work! – they are almost always pleasant and our boys love them). Her husband is pretty awesome too :-) in an awesome kind of friend way. My husband enjoys any time they can get together and chat “church, theology stuff.”

Our transition to moving here 3 years ago was made so much easier with her friendship.

I look forward to my 1st year home schooling Caleb… I know if there ever comes a time im lost or need advice, Kelly will be there.

So to Kelly, Im sorry I forgot your birthday, but I know if theres anyone who understands the forgetful mind of a mother ;-) its you.

We definitely need a girls night soon!! and I can treat you to dinner or a torturous pedicure LOL!

I LOVE the Fabrics!

IMG_9937Last week I got a package in the mail from my friend Kate. As a gift she made me these wonderful market bags!

The fabrics are sooo fun! Kate has such a great eye for color and prints. She puts together two totally different prints and colors, and they just work so well. I wish she could come into my home and pick all my linens and curtains, I bet she’d be a great interior designer as well.

I used the bags today for a big grocery store run. They worked great!

If you love these bags you should comment here telling Kate to open up an etsy shop and sell them ;-) cause I seriously want like 5 more!

Oh, & Kate… your bags will be the inspiration for my kitchen ;-) I may have to get you to ship me swatches of the fabrics to use in some decorative frame I want to work on soon. ::wink wink::

*& yes, the photo to the right shows our new cabinets and counters/back splash. The kitchen should be totally done by monday!!*

Heres a few more close ups of the prints.

Update:
Kate posted a comment to those interested in these amazing bags!
Here is what she said…

You are so silly you silly-pants! I’m glad you love them. I love mine too, use them for everything.

For anyone interested, I get all my fabrics at Jo-Ann’s. I use the 45? home decor fabric for the outside, and just quilter’s cotton for the inside. The interfacing I use is Pellon 911FF. I use this tutorial with a few changes:
http://www.thelongestyear.typepad.com/EasyToteTut.pdf

The tutorial calls for home decor fabric on for inside and outside to make it reversible. I do that differently. And I cut the body of the bag 18? x 20? and put the handles on the 18? side so the bags are taller rather than wider. I also do my handles a bit differently. I cut a strip of each fabric 27? x 3?. I fold in the edges and iron to make them 2? wide. Then I put them together and sew the edges.

Anyone wanting to make them feel free to contact me with ?’s! mrs_kateboard@hotmail.com. But sorry, no Etsy shop for me. :) Too busy already. :) If you’re DYING for me to make you some let me know. WE’ll work something out. :)

10 month preggo PW

IMG_6876Soooo my friend Aliesha aka our Youth Pastors wife is… STILL PREGNANT! shes like 10 months pregnant lol.

I was thinking about it today… I had Caleb and Taite at 38 weeks… Aliesha has had 4 more weeks of pregnancy than I ever had with them :-)

Lots of prayers are with her!! & I am sure she is hoping her lil bundle comes soon… but in the mean time she decided to FINALLY open up an etsy shop!

In case you havent seen her NURSERY you should… the process through that showed her creative talents… and I have seen 1st hand all the cuteness she can create. I think its awesome shes starting a shop & I think she will be very successful with it.

I may even get to highlight her creations on SIMPLE in the future :-)

Her shop is located at: http://artisticrenditions.etsy.com

Check it out and say a prayer for her!! so she goes ahead and goes into labor before thursday (her induction date)

New things coming

IMG_9575Yesterday I shot my 1st wedding with Ginny Corbett.
I met Ginny back in Dec 2009 at a Christmas Photographers meet up. I was pregnant at the time with Owen & came across Ginnys work at my OBGYN office. She has canvas’ all over the office and I loved them! Seeing wall to wall portraits of emotion and different stages of a womans life (that was the theme I gathered) was so neat.

I have new things coming but can’t really explain it all right now…
but I am excited about it and look forward to seeing how things work out :-)

Ginny though is amazing. Shes so confident and funny. I wish I had more of her self confidence! Her assistant who was also there Allison was also just as confident! Maybe their confidence will rub off on me a bit ;-) I tend to be a bit reserved at times.

The wedding was stunning… (but long hah)
I will post more photos from it on my PHOTO BLOG later on in the week. This afternoon I caught up and took a 2 1/2 hour nap :) while the kids napped. I needed it.

Below are a few “favs” I managed to go through before crashing this afternoon.

oh and this was really neat… and something I have never seen at a wedding before… the brides maids prayed for the bride! They gathered around here and laid their hands on her.. it was a very special moment. I was in the corner of the room and saw this mirror… that framed the moment perfectly. I wish someone could of recorded the prayers because they were awesome.
