VA, MA, DE & NJ

IMG_8317 copyBesides coming through NC where I live… I have traveled through 4 other states, in 2 days! My parents were up for a visit this week with my brother… and wanted to visit my grandparents in DE. To get to DE it takes a solid 5 hours from my house. On the way you go through Virginia, Maryland and then you get into Delaware.

Today though we took a ferry ride to NJ! It is called the Cape May Ferry.

Its about an hour 1/2 ride once you get onto the boat… after you get off you have a few hours to shop, etc… or if you want you can actually stay the night.

It went well. I enjoyed it.. despite it being a tad cold.

I wish I could say the outdoor air healed me sinus infections… sadly it didn’t… I still am MAJORLY stuffy… and can barely breathe through my nose tonight.. results in some cruddy headaches…

I dont know what to do honestly.. I may go back to my Dr. and get another antibiotic… I just hate taking all this junk while pregnant… but they assure me its safe.
I just cant keep being sick like this… it affects your entire appearance… mood… ability to be with your children.. its really crippling in ways. I cant wait to feel like myself again.

The visit here has been nice though. Getting away for a little bit was a much needed break and Ive enjoyed it.

I do miss my kiddos though and husband. :) I appreciate my husband being willing to watch BOTH boys… all the while holding down the fort at home and his work.

Tomorrow we drive home… But we have a busy weekend… and then next week I have a wedding.. so no breaks until after that wedding :)

Below are a few more photos from today…

My experience with the Neti Pot

netipot
Well as much as I wish I looked as beautiful as the lady to the left using my neti pot for the 1st time…

I must admit I was not that pretty HAHA…

This is probably a more accurate photo to describe how I looked

netpot2

Beautiful I know :)

So really… my thoughts on my experience with the Neti Pot.

I can’t believe I actually tried it… but seriously… after weeks of being sick I was willing to try almost anything.

I sent Travis on a walmart run to buy the walmart version of the Neti Pot… and tonight gave it a go.

Honestly…

netipot

IT WAS NOT BAD!
Despite my beauty not shining through during this particular time in my life lol… as water oozed out the nose… I will say that I had ZERO trouble using it. I thought for sure my gag reflex would kick in and id choke or drown… but I got it on the 1st try.

I am so stopped up though that when I used it on my left side the water barely could get through… it was like a slow leak… instead of a clean flow.

I survived though and actually look forward to my next neti pot experience… which will be in the morning! I plan to do this twice a day. Morning and night… until I start to clear up.

I felt much better after just one use… so I can imagine after a weeks worth of uses it really clears you out.

To those curious where to buy this. Like I stated above.. I got mine from walmart. The photo to the right is an image of the walmart one I found. It was like $10 bucks. Comes with lots of sinus solution as well. Its totally natural!

Note: My boys seemed to enjoy watching this way to much :)

Torpedo Boogers?

IMG_9439For the past two days we have been battling the boogie monster.

No no… not the one who hides under the bed…

The one that invades our bodies and turns us into swollen faced, matted hair, booger nosed beauties haha.

No fun…

It started with me the day of our ultrasound.

That night I lived with tissue torpedo’s shoved up my nose. You all know EXACTLY what I am talking about. My nose would not stop running though!! and we all know that while pregnant you can’t take squat. I took a sudafed to try and dry that up.. but it didn’t help.

Wednesday Taite ended up catching what I had… but he not only got boogers he also got a fever of around 101.

Then that night at church my husband hears that our towns pediatrician office has had over 200 cases of h1n1 this week aka swine flu.

So I began thinking he had the swine flu…

In the morning though his fever was gone and he was in fairly good spirits.

Then around noon Caleb starts feeling crummy….

and now is laying on the floor with a fever and boogers.

So… well… I dont think we have swine flu… BUT we all feel pretty bad.

I am off to serve up some slow cooker lasagna I made though… I HOPE ITS GOOD :) I typically stink at any lasagna meal… but Im good with slow cookers.. this may work! :) If it does ill post the recipe.

102…103….104!!!

sickburger Yesterday morning Taite woke up with a slight temperature… We didnt think much of it since he was acting fine… but we soon realized it was higher than expected.

It started with 102…
Taite was very tired and only wanted to sit and watch tv…
He wouldnt eat.

Time passes… Taite takes two naps yesterday morning..
By 2:30pm his temp went up to 103.4

We then decided to give him sprite… which we dont like to do… im anti-soda for kids :) but in this case he wouldnt drink juice or anything. My theory is as long as its cool and liquid it should help.

So we gave him a sippy of sprite, he chugged that, we wet him with towels… gave him an ice pop… and it then dropped to like 101.5

Then an hour or so later..

104!!

I had to then leave for a photoshoot last night at 7pm… I told Travis if it got any higher to take him to the ER… I had my cell phone with me.

Got home after the shoot… Taite was in our room sleeping… Through the night we checked on him .. the temp had dropped to around 102…

And now by morning it was 99-100... so hes doing better.

104 makes me nervous tho! thats high… but a friend told me its not unusual for kids his age to have temps that high… so we held off on the Dr.

Just kept him hydrated and cool… and near.

Im thankful my children have been healthy. We havent had to deal with many colds… and typically when they do get one its not to terribly bad… and passes quickly.

Heres to a good restful day at home with Taite… And a prayer that Caleb doesnt get it.

Well.. its the…

Last night Taite had it rough (as well as myself)
He laid in bed with me most of the night… tossing and turning…
Had a fever of 103
I remember the last time I looked at him (awake) was around 2:30am…
I didnt get to sleep until around 4:00am.

Travis took him to the Dr. this morning.
He had some blood work done and vitals checked.

It is in fact croup.

Thankfully all of Taites blood work and vitals came back normal. He has a great oxygen level in his blood and his white blood cells are fine. The Dr. was surprised they were so good because he said he sounded really bad. Like a washing machine.

They gave him some medicine for it… but it pretty much has to run its course.

Poor little guy…
