My personal Boba model Taite :)

IMG_4250With my Boba work in the works… one of the things I had to begin shooting is their new Kid Carrier line. Theres more info on their website in regards to these & their release date.

Let me just say… THEY ARE SO CUTE!

I needed a boy model for some of the colors and immediately thought to use Taite.

He after all has been a Boba Model since birth ;-)

He did a fantastic job… I look forward to sharing lots from the session, but for now just a couple.

I did treat him to frozen yogurt afterwards for doing such a great job too :) – he was very excited about that.

& For those who may not be familiar with Boba.
They offer so many great options for babywearing. If you are curious to learn more feel free to comment or e-mail me.

& To end… a few babywearing behind the scene photos from yet another session I had last week – Thanks Coleen for taking these.

Clear Skin

(Just for those who have read my blog for a long time, I’ve done a post similar to this years back, but wanted to re-write it and make a more updated post for people reading… )

This is what results when you sit and wait for a slow printer.... #selfportraitOne thing I have always struggled to keep is a clear complexion. I am sure some who read that may not believe it – since it is actually one of the things I am often complimented on. Clear skin tho is something I have had lots of trial and error with

One thing that I really battle with are hormonal breakouts.

It has been a struggle since I got married. Oddly enough as a teen I did not struggle with this.

Add to that pregnancy… and my hormones have been just all over the place.

With my last pregnancy even more so. I’m not sure why when pregnant with Owen I broke out so much… but it was by far the biggest battle I ever faced with keeping a clear complexion. I was at a loss and tried every possible method to clear it up. In that case nothing seemed to work – it was purely hormones… and after lots of discussions with my midwife back in NC… I now know I did all I could… and often times the only cure is to be put on birth control.

That is something I was not comfortable with…. and so after Owen was born I began searching for ways to really pamper my face… and take care of it. Even though I understood and knew that many facial breakouts can’t be 100% fixed with products you put on the surface of your skin… I was going to try my hardest to find the best ways to help it out.

While I did this before him in areas… it wasn’t consistent… I would often times waver back into a cheaper method of cleansing and hydrating and almost immediately id break out.

IMG_1342

For almost a year now I have been very happy with my skin. While there are times I do break out (like once a month, or twice in my case – crazy cycles!) – its much less of a battle now, thanks to the products I have found.

So to wrap this up :) – here are a list of things I use DAILY.

1) A daytime facial cleanser
- I use Pure Anada’s Scentless cleanser
- & recently started using Kelly Teagarden Organic Facial cleanser
(I get to giveaway some on She {hearts} It next week! – its expensive but works very very well.)

- Those facial cleansers I use ONLY in the morning.

2) A night time facial cleanser
- I use Organic Jojoba Oil
- I buy mine from Trader joes, but you can purchase it online.
- I use this method using the oil to cleanse with at night. This method removes ALL my make up btw.

3) A good facial moisturizer
- I use 3 kinds right now. Yes 3 ;-)
- At night I use my friend Nichole’s Organic Lotion Bar.
(Its slightly greasy but honestly it works amazingly well! I apply it right after doing the oil cleansing treatment. This way my hands are warm from the wash cloth I used to steam my face… having warm hands helps the lotion bar rub in much smoother and softer)

Before having her bar, I used what is listed below, for both night and morning.
- In the morning I use
~ Rainwater Botanicals Oils with their facial cream – I mix it together.
So one squirt from their facial cream (lotion) – and 4 drops of the oil into my palm. I mix it together with my fingers, then apply it all over my face. IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!!!

4) For breakouts I use
- Goat Milk Stuff’s Tea Tree Oil Lotion Bar
(Just rub it on like lotion onto breakouts)
- More severe breakouts (although this has not happened in a while)
I use A Hydroccortizone Stick (1%) – The one I have is Dr. Bobby’s, which is no longer in business… but you can find some on amazon that are similar. Don’t use this for long periods of time. Don’t use for longer than 7 days max. It however works great. Esp for stubborn areas that continue to break out.

5) To exfoliate
- I mix Pure Sweet Almond Oil w/ Honey Granules (Its a sucanat w/ honey mixture – great for baking too btw)
- I only do this once a week, if that… and always rub it on in the morning, softly in a circular motion, IN THE shower, then let the warm water steam for a while after it washes off.

6) For Makeup
- I use Pure Anada’s Mineral Makeup & Shadows 100% – Its the best make up I have ever used. I’ve been using her make up for almost 4 years now I believe. Maybe 3? I forget. Years any how. I would recommend it highly to anyone… and while the cost up front may be a bit much, it honestly will last you way longer than any store make up!! Its well worth the cost & the owner is amazing.

- Make up for me is one of the most important aspects of keeping a clear complexion. Not because it covers, but because its on your face ALL DAY.

Hope this is helpful for some. One thing I love about the products I use, is where they come from. Besides the Hydroccortizone stick, & jojoba/almond oils all my products come from smaller businesses. Run by great women! They are natural, safe and good for you too :)

All this being said. My skin is not perfect.

In fact tomorrow I’ll probably wake up for 4 new breakouts ;-) – No ones skin can be perfect… but one thing I do know is that my face has never felt so good. It does not feel tight… it does not feel dry… it feels healthy

1st Grade Bible Service

Like I said in yesterdays post. Our church gave all the 1st graders bibles. All 160 of them!

IMG_4144

Before service they had all the 1st graders get signed in.
They are so organized its unbelievable how smooth things go.

Caleb had his named on a seat with his Sunday School classmates… and after signing him in, he got to sit with them the 1st half of the service. He was so excited about this and even though we were there 35 minutes early… he still wanted me to leave him be, to be with his friends.

IMG_4147

While we waited Taite got in some ipad Sonic the Hedgehog time :) – and while he was busy waiting, I snuck back over to snag a photo of Caleb in his “assigned seat” :)

IMG_4149

Notice his expression? He was trying to hide from me!

IMG_4151IMG_4152

I did manage to get a smile.

IMG_4156

Our Pastor shook all 160 of these sweet kids hands as they walked proudly across the stage.

& after finding us – Caleb sat with us so grown up… excited about his bible… and we joined together like we always do on Sunday, singing together and then hearing a great sermon from our Pastor.

IMG_4169

IMG_4172

& if that wasn’t enough… we had a celebration after the services for all the kids.

The kids had a great time. The lady painting Caleb and Taites face is Caleb’s SS teacher, btw :)

Learning to read the Bible

Last night our 7 year old Caleb got his 1st “real” bible… it was given to him by our church… in a special service they had last night for the 1st graders. It was really sweet… and I loved how excited the kids got to walk on stage… and have a bible handed to them by our Pastor.

I took pictures and hope to blog them soon :) – but for now.. a single instagram photo of Caleb this morning…

Caleb reading his new REAL bible he got from church yesterday.. So sweet.. He said he wanted to read it and that this chair was the perfect spot. #worship

No one asked him to read it…

He wanted to.

It was so sweet to hear him say “Oh I like this part…” and then read out loud to me, scripture. Book marking and highlighting ones that stood out to him.

Such a special time for us.

We look so forward to our children growing in their relationships with the Lord.

Every Day

This weekend has been very busy and its not even over yet :)
Thursday I had to work doing Boba Sessions, Friday I had more & Then Saturday I attended a workshop called Click Workshops. Its a series of workshops offered by a couple photographers here, as well as a few other states… and there is a very high possibility I may begin teaching for this workshop in the near future. So I wanted to attend one to kind of get a feel for what it was about and if I was a “click” for the group or not :)

IMG_4110
The class was a very basic Digital Photography 101 style course… and 99% of the people in the class were just people who had really nice SLR cameras, yet had no clue how to use them properly. This class taught them how to shoot in manual, explained all about ISO, Aperture, bllluuu bleee blahhh and all that other camera jazz talk. I think the way they had it laid out was really good for a beginner. It wasn’t so advance that it confused everyone :) – yet enough to really give them a solid foundation of their gear.

What I found to be the best part, was once the students got to actually USE what they had learn on a few models… You see before your very eyes light bulbs go off in their heads :) – I loved how this one guy Joe was so excited. Saying “Look at that! Thats just amazing & no flash!” He really made my day.

Add into the mix of all this photo work, we also had a birthday party, where Owen tore up the dance floor :) – and this evening a large celebration for the 1st graders at our church…

Caleb is so excited about this… so heres hoping I can take some pictures tonight. :)

All that being said.

My working has been different. Its weird being the one to leave home dressed for work and my husband stay behind to watch the kids. Its strange not having the responsibility to school the kids on a daily basis any more. I miss it some days… some not as much ;-) – but really, this is how it has to be right now. We know its a season we are in… and we know that this season will not last.

I am just so thankful for Gods provision for our family.

How he has provided for my business so quickly after moving 2 states away from where I was based. I am thankful that my husband has adjusted well to the changes… and that throughout all of this we are both growing in so many ways.

This afternoon I came across some scripture in Ecclesiastics 3.

It says…

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

So even though this season is different & at times up in the air :)

I would not change it.

It has been a blessing in so many ways.
