Seriously.. where has the time gone!

Goes way to fast…

Soak your kids up…

I just want to stop time some days!

Flexibility

IMG_0809copyYou know one other thing I love about home schooling…

Its flexible.

Yesterday I woke up just feeling lousy. I’m sure some can guess why! :)

I was also really behind on house work.

I suppose a typical “Monday” morning :) – with lots to catch up on from the results of a busy weekend. So we took the day off from schooling.

At 3:30pm we dropped the boys off at my friend Nichole’s house. They offered to watch our boys so that Travis and I could go see Courageous! We were so thankful. Was nice to get out and the movie was good too. Bring tissues :)

Our boys had a great time too.

I asked Caleb if he wanted me to have as many kids as their family has. They have 7 (8th due soon) – and he said yes :) – such a great evidence of what an awesome family they have. They seriously make me want lots more children. Its so neat to seem them all together.

One thing I remembered while out was that tuesday morning from 9am-noon I will be gone at a COR meeting.. typically when I go to these, Travis watches the kids. However, he has a meeting to go to as well in the morning! So we will both be gone. The church provides us child care for COR meetings, so the kids will be taken care of… I just didn’t think about it and the fact Caleb will miss another day of schooling.

Whats great though about home schooling, despite an off week.. you can still keep up, to a degree ;-)

We packed up his seat work, including a write up of what reading he has to do… so even though he wont be in our home, at the school table – he will still be able to keep up with his work. Minus a little hands on teaching.

Got to love that! :)

Also to those who are curious what curriculum we went with…

I can’t recall if I blogged this or not, so if Im repeating myself, sorry ;-) – my memory is mushy lately.

We went with Abeka again.

Since we had the move going on… it was for the best.

We didn’t have the time to research anything else… so we just went with what was familiar.

Caleb is doing 1st grade. He JUST turned 7.
He is doing very well and honestly the work he is doing right now is EASY for him, but I know as the year goes it will level out.

IMG_0812copyTaite is doing SOME kindergarten work.

I got him doing Kindergarten Math & Phonics (both Abeka).

I am teaching him to write his print on my own. Just with a tablet paper booklet I got from walmart. Nothing fancy :) – its print, so really no curriculum needed. We did cursive for Caleb in kindergarten, but Caleb was also 6 when he started kindergarten, Taite is still only 4. So he just isnt ready for that yet.

Taite is doing great.
Although I have a feeling we will repeat lots of this next yet ;-)

Hes still young, and so Im just trying to slowly introduce him to a routine for schooling. I love how with home schooling you can adjust when and how fast to introduce things to your children. Every kid is so different… only makes sense.

Heres to schooling, even when not in the school room :)
and not stressing it.

Also to friends who are brave enough to take on our 3.
They are sweet boys, but when put with other boys, they become CRAZY :) – so I often am fearful to leave them, but know they were in good hands with Nichole and her family. Just hope they didn’t stress anyone out ;-)

And here’s to COR group with sitters ;-)

and possibly a nap later. :-D

Proud Singer :)

At our new church, they have children’s choir.
Practice takes place every wednesday before awana.
Both the boys are a part of it.

They love it!
Well, Caleb we know does ;-) – Taite hasn’t said much.

This past Sunday they had their first performance.

Caleb was so excited.

Here are a few pictures and videos from the event…

Before anyone entered (we were there early to get good seats)

They had a baptism before the performance.

The 2nd song they sung, Im not sure Caleb knew 100% :)
But he sure looks cute!

After the kids sang, they came down to sit. Where we then were all led in singing.

Caleb stood tall during service and sung every song. Following the words on the screen.

He would smile at me and tell me “I can sing all the songs!”

Just another confirmation and great example of the importance of keeping children in worship. Im so glad our church encourages it. After age 5 they require children stay with parents throughout the entire worship service. While it may be long on some Sundays, they handle it just fine.

We are very proud of you Caleb!

Waver

Owen isn’t talking much.
He is JUST LIKE Caleb was :)

However, he does love to wave!

Ebay Dress, a 1st

A friend of mine had a photo of herself wearing a dress. It was adorable on her! I asked her where she got it, and she told me ebay. This friend btw is like 8 mo pregnant ;-) – but the dress would look cute on a pregnant lady and non-pregnant. Its just one of those versatile pieces.

To my surprise I found one just like it listed on ebay as well, and for $17.95 NEW (or make offer). I decided to go out on a limb, as much as I hate online shopping for clothing (I like to try things on 1st) – and made an offer of $10 on the dress.

To my surprise, I WON it and with shipping the cost was $11.99

A steal imo for a good dress.

It came this past Friday and I loved it.

SO COMFORTABLE!! Its light weight, yet not paper thin. I hate getting a dress thats so thin it shows all your mommy dimples and underwear line, etc..etc.. :) I could not be more pleased with this dress and look forward to wearing it lots more.

It looks great without an under shirt (as shown in my photo) – I also wore a dark cover up over top of it during church, since its cooler in worship.

I only wish I could find this in like 4 more colors ;-)

Oh! and it has pockets! double points.

So heres to getting out of my comfort box and purchasing an item on ebay, for a great price.

Also the necklace I have on was a gift from Stacey. Its such a sweet gift she sent me for my 28th birthday – I think of her each time I wear it and the awesome influence and things I have been able to learn from her and others thanks to the world of blogging :)

You can purchase your own necklace like it on this etsy shop.

Hope everyone else is having a great Weekend.

Caleb sings in his first choir performance tonight at evening worship. He is really excited :) Will be taking the big guns (aka my nice camera) to the performance, per Caleb’s request ;-)
