In celebration of Earth Day this year, I thought I would share how we live in the Lorax and post a few ways on how we stay green :)
Many of you know already… but it never hurts to share things more than once.
- I make our own Laundry Detergent - for many reasons, but mainly because its so much cheaper, sensitive on my skin & I can use organic and natural soaps.
- We cloth diaper. This has been something we started with our 2nd born – so we are now going on 5 years cloth diapering :) I love the idea of reusing our diapers over… and over… rather than tossing used ones in the trash constantly. I also really love knowing what is laying on my baby day… after day… after day. Babies live in diapers for 2 years straight if not more… the idea of pure clean cloth against their skin rather than chemicals, gives me a lot of peace at mind. However we do slack some days and especially with traveling, rely on the convenience of a disposable. I still think the amount we have saved though is well worth the extra work.
- We use reusable bags. Not always, but a good bit of the time :) – I have a few favorites. I have used Envirosax for years. They fit SO much and fold up so tiny, you can always have one handy in your purse.I also love some cloth ones my friend Kate made. They make great day totes too :).
We do a few other things to stay green… from buying natural products for the home, from hygiene, to cleaning products… It may not be to many “green ways” :) – but every little bit helps.

Decided to pre-schedule this before heading to the country :)
These were taken the 1st day at my parents.
We love loving on the Owen :) – he’s just so cuddly!!

& while cuddling… and after SNIFFING Owen’s sweet feet :)
We realized those little feet may not be as “sweet” as we thought ;-)

A true sign of a boy ;-) gunk between the toes!
Soooo we’re on the road again.
Totally last minute trip (although we had it in mind – just not so soon) – Since Travis will start working May 14th – we knew this would be our last opt. to travel this year… once summer comes and he is in full swing with training – I just don’t think leaving will be an option for some time. Not to mention with the birth of the baby this fall… leaving after that doesnt really sound appealing either – since ill be tending to a newborn and 3 other kids. People can come see us then ;-)
So we are off to visit family and friends for the next 10 days or so.

We have lots of stops to make and a busy schedule… heres hoping we can do it and stay sane :) – relaxed and just enjoy the time away. So far things are well… the trip went well. As well as it can with 3 boys asking “are we there yet” 15x every 30 minutes hah… well at least 1 of those boys was.
If im scarce from the blog through the weekend its due to no internet signal at Travis’ dads. I hope to post an update by monday though :) – enjoy the weekend!
The Sunday my parents were here… Taite was schedule to sing with the 4/5 year olds in big church sunday evening. Taite btw has told his teachers he “will not sing until he is 18… ” however he told them “I will make an acceptation for this.”
He cracks me up.
I was photographing the baptism’s that night… so I was geared and ready to go. I actually was in there early enough that I was able to snag some pictures of the practice run with the kids before the room was filled :) – which was nice.
Taite was all smiles.
However… come performance time – he was a total mess.
He was doing this weird “fake singing thing” – where he opened his mouth crazy wide and with unique expressions, not disrespectful ones, but it was as if he was nervous to really sing, so he was “faking it” – and it really did look fake :)
But so funny.
Caleb was cracking up the entire time – as were my parents.
Then halfway through the 3rd song – Taite vanishes. He was right in the middle of the group (you can try to find him in the blow photo) – One minute he was visible, the next gone.
Taite was actually SITTING DOWN during the performance – still singing but just sitting haha. I guess he was tired? Then when he would pop up he’d stare really closely at his neighboring kids face – and then begin the wide mouth singing again :)
He made for quiet a performance.
Afterwards during worship he zonked out on Nana’s lap. I wish I had a picture of it – because it was so cute.
He really was tired.
I am just thankful he made it through the performance and didnt run off stage having to pee or something :)
I am finally starting my bump pics :) – thank you Aliesha for the inspiration. She photographed her 2nd pregnancy this way and I just loved the look of the photos. I also love the fact that I can snag these in the morning, or any time really – with messy hair and no make up & they still have a soft and pretty look about them. Its just a good idea all around :)
So this is how I will be taking my bump pictures for the rest of the pregnancy.
You may or may not be able to tell but my pants do have to be unbuttoned now. I am doing the rubberband method around the button to keep my pants up :) – soon though I will just use a belly band to help.
I don’t own many maternity clothes… however I did purchase some maternity crop shorts and a friend loaned me some kahki shorts and jeans. So I think I will be set with those – dresses and skirts.
My next Doctors Apt is schedule for week 17 – and then around week 20 they will do an ultrasound to determine the sex. Again, still think its a boy ;-)
*Me 14.3 weeks with Owen (sorry I dont have a 15 week photo with him)*
