Tempting…

This morning as we sat and did our morning routine, before the kitchen workers got here… I saw an abundance of cars outside our window… and realized “ohhh yeah, school starts back today.”

IMG_9715As car after car piled into our street (to those who dont know, we live within like 50 feet of the school in town, we could walk there)… I began thinking “might be nice for the boys to go there….” – after all, ITS RIGHT THERE…

It allow me so much more free time…

I could build my business sooo good if I had just a few hours each day to devote to business work…

I could have a clean home… well cleaner? ;-)

I could enjoy some alone time with Owen…

the list could go on…

As a kid who grew up in public school I honestly dont see much harm in it… after all, Im ok, right? My husband was home schooled, hes ok, right?

I honestly believe it is by the grace of God I was raised in a Christian home and led the right away… I think with Gods grace and protection I was guarded during those early years in school.

I dont think it is wrong to send our children to public school... I know in some situations you have too… both parents work and theres just no way to go about it differently…

but for me… (and this entire post is FOR ME and about my own PERSONAL convictions – I am not writing this to point fingers at what anyone else is doing, because we each have to make these decisions ON OUR OWN)

I am able…
My business is run by ME… I make my hours…
My home doesn’t have to be perfect…
I can enjoy Owen and any more babies to come just as much with my other children around, as I could alone.

Our home schooling starts next week on the 30th. Because of the kitchen work we were unable to start today (on the actual town school start day)… but thats ok, it all works out & we are excited to start!

One of the things that really influenced me and gave me such a drive to home school, besides the Word and how we felt led as a family…. was a sermon series called “The Children of Ceasar”

Ive posted about this before but thought id put a quick youtube clip up from his sermon. Id recommend this to anyone on the fence about home schooling…

& like I said above…
I think we each have to make this decision up for ourselves… and what we feel is best for our families… but I do wish those who may turn their nose up to those who home school, would realize… we are only doing what we feel is best for our children... we dont home school to put down hard working teachers… or other children… I think to often people have this “image” of home school families… and think we are like anti-public school… or that we dont do much all day… but thats far from it!

Either way, public or home schooled, or even private, love your children, spend time with them outside of school, teach them the Word!! spend time with them on school activities… be involved. Our time with them is precious.

2 a Friend

FxCam_1282666511477This morning I got a call from my friend Kelly. She was headed to our town for a library run & thought about doing lunch together. It then slipped out that it was her birthday! AHHH im so bad about keeping up with peoples birthdays… seriously, Its something I need to work on :) I need email reminders for sure, because I just forget.

I’ll make it up to Kelly :-)

& for now ill just praise her friendship! Cause she seriously has been my best friend since moving here. Its hard to find friends you can feel 100% comfortable with. I would of never dreamed id have a friend with me while in labor… pushing a baby out of my wah-poozie lol, but I trusted her and knew if there was anyone I could trust with that time, it be her.

Shes a huge encouragement, very wise (Im forever calling her saying “hey… I got a question.” – she can vouch for that im sure! – I think I called her 3 times the past 2 days with questions about something!). Her kids are always sweet (even when they are bad lol – really, that takes work! – they are almost always pleasant and our boys love them). Her husband is pretty awesome too :-) in an awesome kind of friend way. My husband enjoys any time they can get together and chat “church, theology stuff.”

Our transition to moving here 3 years ago was made so much easier with her friendship.

I look forward to my 1st year home schooling Caleb… I know if there ever comes a time im lost or need advice, Kelly will be there.

So to Kelly, Im sorry I forgot your birthday, but I know if theres anyone who understands the forgetful mind of a mother ;-) its you.

We definitely need a girls night soon!! and I can treat you to dinner or a torturous pedicure LOL!

My 1st Shirt Job

beforeSooooo…

I decided to be crafty today & grabbed some fabric….

A few buttons….

and my lil’ singer sewing machine.

I wasnt really sure what I was doing…

I didn’t know any measurements…

I didnt have one of those cool body figure things they use on project runway to pin things up before hand…

I wasn’t even really sure how to thread my bobbin in my sewing machine.

BUT! I was determined to make something…

and that something was a shirt.

So what do you think?

Its a tad snug on the arms…
and chest…

Yeah.. well it doesnt fit at all on the arms or chest (go ahead and look again – see – a little snug…), I had to squeeze in it with some butter… but the fabrics cute huh?

Did I do ok?

Im…

Just kidding :-)

I didn’t make that shirt.

I found it today at a bargin shop for $ . 25 cent! – woo!
I loved the fabric and had to have it.

After reading this blog way to much – I was determined to try some dresses myself. Although I honestly can only sew a straight line haha… I figured the worse I could do is ruin an already ugly dress. Right?

Im pleased with how it turned out though!!

What do you think?
after

I thought it was a great look for lounging around the house, its super comfortable & the fabric is worn in, meaning VERY SOFT! I think this is a much better look than wearing an old T-Shirt of my husbands ;-)

I picked up like 5 dresses btw… I dont intend on doing a dress a day for a year like my inspiration girl does, but it is fun to try!

Well, shes still here

IMG_0032To those who may have been curious what happened to our Cat…

She is still here…

I stuck her outdoors when Owen was a newborn. I couldnt take her any more inside.
She kept going into the nursery and refused to leave it… she had become a real pest.

So we threw her out….

At 1st I felt bad… because she was declawed… but after a few weeks we saw a HUGE difference in Dinah.

I totally believe cats can be humbled… and she was!!

When she was indoors she refused to let anyone touch her. She hid away in the nursery closet or under the guest bed…
She never came out when guest would visit.
She was skittish and just very odd….

Now that she is outside she lets almost anyone touch her.
Shes out constantly wanting attention.
Shes really a different cat!

Dinah has a safe spot under our deck to get away from dogs…
She also can hide under our house in the crawlspace… we have a small opening for her to get in if need be.

I do still have Dinah on an adoption list… Ive had a few people call but no bites yet.
I would prefer someone adopt her and give her a good quiet home indoors… in a home with no small children (I think her skittishness stemmed from our boys being a tad heavy handed with her).

Until shes adopted though she will continue to stay outside..
Where honestly, I think shes happier.

One of her favorite things to do lately is sit and watch the humming birds. :-)
