Puddlers

Owen had his 1st puddle experience (I think?) the other day.
A thunderstorm came through dropping a hefty helping of rain on our streets.

I, being the cool laid back mom (some days) – let the boys have at it outside…

Owen of course sporting no clothes and cloth undies.
He still has his rash some, so we are trying to keep him diaper free some.

Caleb had to keep an eye on Owen, he tends to wonder.

Jack Baur even joined the fun.

Owen refused to take a picture with Taite :)

Kudo’s for Taite trying :)

So even though rain can be an inconvenience at times, we do need it – especially on days when the temps reach 100! – and really, kids can still play in it ;-) as on as lightening doesn’t come with it. So if it rains today, go out and enjoy it!

We almost always do.

5 moms – 18 kids

IMG_1809copyThis morning at 10 the boys and I took a trip to my friend Valerie’s pool.

Between the 5 moms that came, we had 18 children!
I think the ages were as followed…

TWO – 8 year olds
ONE – 7 year old
TWO – 6 year old
TWO – 5 year olds
THREE – 4 year olds
ONE – 3 year old
TWO – two year old
THREE – 1 year olds
ONE – 10 month old

Did I miss anyone? Its hard to keep up with all the ages, all I do know is we have lots of kids.

I had a great time. Despite a few lectures to Caleb (sigh) and a few whines from Taite… over all it was a fun time and much needed for me. When I got up this morning I just prayed that the Lord would help me to
keep my mind off of our troubles and allow me to just
enjoy letting the kids be kids, letting myself be a carefree
mom and enjoying some time with dear friends.

After the pool 3 of us went on and decided to eat at Subway. Mind you by this point it was almost 1pm! – way past most of our kids lunch time :) and the babies nap time. But we pressed on and went out any way.

We ate at an out door area outside of a subway, its fenced in so its pretty safe.

Between the 3 of us we had 11 kids. Three of those were 1. 4 of those had food allergies, and 7 of those had foods that the 4 with allergies couldn’t touch. Lets just say I am so thankful that everyones kids listen well and kept their food to themselves. Otherwise I think it would of been a stressful mess of food contamination. :)

Towards the end of our fairly peaceful meal (really, it was not bad!) – a thunder storm came in, bringing side way rain and wind… which resulted in kids freaking out and the babies all crying at once in high chairs. I actually found lots of humor in it. We got lots of looks from those in the nearby subway. A few smiles :) – a few concerned faces. But all in all, despite the down pour it was an awesome time and a great day for me.

Now at 2:23, the kids are all napping… Im enjoying some peace and quiet… and now after this goes up I am off to read.

To end, a few more photos.
I had a point and shoot today – not my norm :)
But with 18 kids running around I don’t need the stress of having a $1,000 + camera on hand.

Headband sweetness

A friend of mine has the sweetest little girl Zoe.
I snail mailed her a little head band as a gift and was so excited to see it on her blog.

It was really easy to make. I dont have a tutorial with photos myself, but I found one online that used a similar technique. In the headband I made I used 3 types of fabric though for the flowers. I also made each flower a different size. So theres 3 total.

I got the headbands in a big set – so like 15 of them for $4? – all different widths. I find that the thicker width ones work best for children.

Thanks Casey for posting the pictures. It made my day! :)

& to make it even sweeter, Zoe wore this headband on the day Casey officially adopted her brother Jack!

Never a dull moment

In our household…

and very rarely a “quiet” moment :)

Waiting

About 49 minutes ago, I woke up – I blame it on my husband, who well… doesn’t believe he snores, but its a very clear fact, he does. Thankfully not to loudly and most nights I can sleep through it :) – LOVE YOU LOVE! :-D

However after some time in prayer and scripture… I think the Lord just knew I needed to get up and talk to Him.

It started with a simple click over to Proverbs 31 Ministries… where this was on my screen.

“Immediately, Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.
‘You of little faith,’ he said, ‘why did you doubt?’”
Matthew 14:31

I didn’t even read the devotional under there… the verse alone just stopped me in my track of thinking and I then went and read through the entire chapter of Matthew 14.

I wish I could pour my everything out right now to my blog… and let those who keep up with our family and pray for our family know everything that is going on our lives… but I sadly can’t right now.

What I will say is that the Lord is doing a work in our family…

After praying, I then came across a blog post by a Pastor… where oddly enough he had gotten up around 3am and began reading scripture and praying as well. The 1st scripture he wrote about was…

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young.
Be an example to all believers in what you say,
in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity”
1 Tim 4:12

So often I question what the Lord can do with a young 27 year old mother of 3… Sometimes I feel so unqualified to be a PASTORS WIFE… I lack so many qualifies that I think a Pastors wife should have… one of those being some age :) – My mind some days can fill with such doubt.

With our current situation I find myself spending hours thinking about things… wondering what will happen, what the Lord has for us, will things work out… consuming me!

When all I need to do is pray.

And remember who is in control.
